The Exploration Group works with leaders guiding international, national, and regional enterprises, as well as mission-driven organizations facing complex, high-stakes questions:

• Where is the opportunity we are not seeing?

• What ingrained assumptions are holding us back?

• What fundamental shifts are occurring around us?

• What must we explore before making significant commitments?

Dwight comes alongside them in that precise gap—not to impose a rigid destination, but to guide wise exploration.

His role is part guide, part questioner, part connector, and part fellow traveler. Drawing on cross-cultural experience gained from working with people across more than 60 countries, Dwight blends perspectives from international business, philanthropy, nonprofit leadership, and global networks to help clients separate truly promising pathways from noise. His broad international relationships consistently open vital conversations across sectors, disciplines, and cultures that would otherwise remain disconnected.

At the heart of Dwight’s work is a simple conviction: the future is discovered before it is managed. While organizations depend on management for execution, exploration is necessary to determine what is worth executing in the first place. Dwight is committed to restoring this exploratory vocation to twenty-first-century leadership.

His own career reflects the diverse environments his clients inhabit. Prior to founding The Exploration Group in 2008, Dwight served as Senior Vice President of Geneva Global, a cause-based philanthropic advisory firm. Earlier, he was North American Director of the World Evangelical Alliance and Assistant to the President of the Slavic Gospel Association.

 

These roles exposed him to leaders, cultures, and opportunities worldwide, shaping his cross-cultural methodology. Dwight holds a Master of Arts from Wheaton College Graduate School and a bachelor’s degree in communication studies from Indiana Wesleyan University, alongside executive education at Cornell University’s Johnson School and Vanderbilt University’s Owen Graduate School of Management.

Exploration defines Dwight’s personal life as much as his professional strategy. Curious about people, places, and unexpected connections, he is currently involved in creating The Reframe, a strategic initiative addressing the reality that we are living in a "Change of Age."

 

That same drive extends to endurance sports: Dwight starts many mornings running trails along the Delaware River or through Valley Forge National Historical Park. He has completed multiple marathons and half marathons internationally—including most recently the Oslo Marathon—and has repeatedly crewed for a fellow runner in the grueling Badwater Ultramarathon across Death Valley.

Dwight lives outside Philadelphia in a historic 1907 bank building, while continuing to regard Michigan as home. He travels extensively and is married with three young-adult children and six grandchildren. Whether the terrain is organizational, strategic, philanthropic, or global, Dwight’s purpose remains singular: coming alongside leaders to help them navigate beyond the familiar and explore their way toward what is next.
